As a young girl, Jessica Manno loved looking into designer window displays, reading the latest fashion magazines and watching fashion shows. Wondering if her passion for fashion was enough, she enrolled in visual and fashion merchandising classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City during her senior year of high school. When she finished the weekend classes, she knew studying fashion was the right choice and began her college search. She looked at fashion schools in New York City but they were missing the small college lifestyle Jessica wanted. When it came time to decide, she knew Cazenovia College would give her the education and college environment she wanted.

Once she made her decision, Manno, of Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, set out to find her niche in fashion and never looked back. Tackling all the opportunities available, she joined the Annual Fashion Show team as a freshman. From selling tickets during her first year to becoming a promotion team leader as a junior, it was only fitting for Jessica to become co-director of the fashion show as a senior.

As a student co-director, Manno explains that "the position entails a lot of multi-tasking, communication and patience." She oversaw the promotion team, assigned tasks to the team members, helped the promotion team leader when needed, and was responsible for transporting the models, volunteers and students who needed a ride to this yearís show. In addition, Manno managed all three Fashion Show social media platforms, including live-tweeting during the event. She was also a key player in the development and review of the Fashion Show program, responsible for sorting out any last minute details.

Earlier in her senior year, when an opportunity to travel to Paris for a "Paris Fashion Tour" with Professor Karen Steen and Professor Grazyna Kozaczka was presented, she jumped at the chance. In Paris, she experienced the calm and "unrushed" feel of Parisians and their "dress to impress" fashion views. The group visited famous monuments, including the Eiffel Tower, museums, and toured fashion designer, Octavio Pizzaroís studio.

"Jess Manno is a student who has worked hard and taken advantage of the many opportunities available in the fashion programs at Cazenovia College," said Karen Steen, professor of Fashion Studies. This includes an internship at Isabella Boutique in Cazenovia, New York and a summer internship at the swimwear design company, Malia Mills, located in the Hamptons.

As a result, Manno has been accepted to the International Fashion Academy, where she will pursue an MBA degree in Global Fashion Media. She will leave in October for fifteen months: 48 weeks to be spent in Paris and twelve in Shanghai, China. "When I found out I was accepted, I was shocked, excited, nervous and happy all at once," shared Manno, whose ultimate goal is to secure a public relations and event planning position in the fashion industry.

With graduation around the corner, Jessica reflects on the past four years spent at Cazenovia College and knows she will always have a place to come back to - her Caz family. "Iíve learned so much from my friends, classmates and professors. I used to be quiet and reserved, especially in class, but after attending Cazenovia College, Iíve become more open and willing to approach anyone."

"The relationships I have built during my time at Caz have helped me get to where I am today."
